Hill Dermaceuticals was established in 1943 and is based in Sanford, Florida. It is a pharmaceutical company that specializes in developing dermatology products for adults and children where there is a pressing need that other companies are not filling. Hill Dermaceuticals, manufactures, distributes and markets its products throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.
A drug manufacturer is a business entity engaged in making, assembling, processing or modifying devices, or mixing, producing or preparing drugs in dosage forms by encapsulating, entableting or other process, or packaging, repackaging or otherwise changing the container, wrapper or label of any package containing a drug or device in furtherance of the distribution of the drug or device from the original place of manufacture to the person who makes final delivery or sale to the ultimate consumer.
Hill chose to concentrate on developing a product for scalp psoriasis because no product gave satisfactory results when treating this disease. The average patient has suffered from this disease for years. It became evident that scalp diseases had been greatly overlooked by the pharmaceutical industry and that most people with scalp problems were frustrated and had given up treating the disease.
Atopic Dermatitis synonymous with Eczema is an inflammatory disease that causes itchy, dry, red skin that typically affects the elbows, the backs of knees and the face, but can cover most of the body. There is persistent itching and redness, and some will blister, weep or peel.
Atopic Dermatitis is one of the most common chronic skin diseases and there is no cure. Ten percent 10percent of all children develop the disease, and of those, only 40 percent 40percent will outgrow it by adolescence. The sixty percent 60perecent who do not outgrow it by adolescence will have the disease into adulthood. In adulthood, the disease typically worsens and the skin becomes thicker and drier. The best way to treat this disease is to re establish normal skin barrier function and restore moisture to the skin while reducing the inflammation, thereby eliminating the constant itching, dryness and redness.
The Company is one of the most difficult diseases to treat. This is because the hair, crust, scales and plaque, make it very difficult to reach the underlying diseased scalp. There are 5 million people in the U.S. with this disease. For years, patients as well as doctors had given up hope of ever treating the scalp successfully.
