The American Pharmacists Association announces Johnson & Johnson-Merck Consumer Pharmaceuticals Co. and McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNeil-PPC, Inc. as the joint recipients of the APhA H.A.B. Dunning Award for 2006 the pharmacy profession’s most prestigious award bestowed upon a member of the pharmaceutical industry by the profession of pharmacy.
 
This award, established in 1983 and named for former APhA leader and pharmaceutical industry executive Henry Armitt Brown Dunning, recognizes an exemplary contribution to the practice of pharmacy by a pharmaceutical manufacturer or provider of support products and services.
 
The firm and McNeil Consumer & Specialty Pharmaceuticals were selected as joint 2006 recipients of the H.A.B. Dunning Award in recognition of their support of the founding of October as American Pharmacists Month.  American Pharmacists Month brings together professionals, consumers, retailers, and the media in an unprecedented campaign to highlight the role of the pharmacist as the medication expert on the health care team.  In addition, each company has helped to sustain several other important APhA awards to recognize outstanding individuals for their strengths as professionals.
