Purdue Pharma L.P.
Purdue Pharma L.P. is known for its pioneering research on a principal cause of human suffering chronic pain. Together with Purdue Products L.P. and other independent associated companies, Purdue has been dedicated to serving both physicians and patients with innovative prescription and non prescription products for more than 50 years. In 1982, Dr. John Purdue Gray and George Frederick Bingham started the company on Manhattan's Lower East Side. Purdue has led the battle against inadequate treatment of pain by developing sustained release medications to manage pain and provide meaningful benefits for patients. Its sales, marketing, and medical education professionals provide the healthcare community with comprehensive educational materials and programs relating to pain management. In 1993, to raise awareness of the importance of pain management, Purdue established Partners against Pain. Purdue is engaged in the research, development, production, sales, and licensing of both prescription and over the counter medicines and hospital products. The company seeks to continually develop and sell new, high quality, innovative pharmaceutical preparations, which together with clinical data and medical education create new value for patients and the health care system. The Company is a state of the art manufacturing plant that formulates medications for pain relief and asthma. Their educational efforts focus on enhancing the proper management of patients in pain through programs and literature offered to healthcare professionals. This includes education on pain assessment, principles of pharmacology, and lawful prescribing of controlled substances. Additional Purdue programs help to educate professionals on the management of asthma and on prevention of infection.
Purdue supports a wide range of activities for major professional organizations and societies at their annual conferences, including seminars, speaker presentations, and satellite symposia. In addition, working in conjunction with hospitals and other organizations, they support meetings, speaker presentations, grand rounds, seminars, and symposia at the local, regional, and state level.
Purdue is committed to developing the safest and most effective drugs possible to treat pain and other conditions. As a science based company, they are discovering drugs with new mechanisms of action and exploring new techniques in drug delivery to enhance the effectiveness and safety of drug therapy.
