Reliant is a pharmaceutical company with integrated sales, marketing and development expertise that markets a portfolio of branded cardiovascular pharmaceutical products. The Company focuses on marketing promotionally sensitive pharmaceutical products to the high prescribing primary care, cardiovascular and specialist physician markets in the United States.
The Company further enhances the value of its product portfolio by implementing strategies to extend the life cycle of the products that it markets. In addition, Reliant acquires rights to branded pharmaceutical products that typically have regulatory exclusivity or patent protection. Reliant also acquires rights to and develops product candidates in mid to late stage clinical development. This approach seeks to minimize many of the risks associated with the drug discovery process.
Reliant was founded in August 1999 and commenced commercial operations in the following year with the acquisition of rights to three marketed brands. Since then, the Company has successfully identified and acquired rights to one additional marketed brand, as well as three late stages clinical development compounds, two of which recently received approval from the Food and Drug Association. Their sale force infrastructure has grown with its product portfolio and is comprised of approximately 850 sales professionals nationwide.
Reliant is dedicated to providing patients with safe and effective prescription pharmaceutical products. To ensure the identity, strength, quality, purity, and safety of their products, they have installed systems and procedures that perform above industry standards. The systems are a primary reason that companies, like Eli Lilly and Novartis, partner with Reliant to market, distribute, and add value to their product portfolios. Currently, Eli Lilly, Novartis and Eurand supply their currently marketed products to them. For projects in development and to support future products, Reliant has assembled industry experts to assure they deliver products of the highest possible quality.
Reliant will continue to acquire new products for commercialization. Several promising, novel candidates have been identified and the company is progressing toward such acquisitions. The objective of the company is to develop late stage, patented drugs intended for specialty or niche markets. The intent is to self fund the development of these products from revenues generated by product sales.
