Santen Inc.
Santen Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., opened its doors in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1993. Located in Northern California’s Napa Valley, the U.S. office is comprised of established, highly experienced healthcare professionals, led by President and CEO, Adrienne Graves, PhD. On average, each member of the U.S. senior management team has 20 or more years of industry experience, with extensive knowledge and expertise based exclusively in the ophthalmic field. The leading ophthalmic pharmaceutical company in Japan since 1890, Santen specializes in treatments for eye and rheumatic diseases, offering both prescription and over the counter products. In early 2004, Santen entered into a partnership agreement with Vistakon Pharmaceuticals, LLC, granting Vistakon the exclusive U.S. distribution rights to the established Santen ophthalmic products Quixin0.5 percent, Betimol 0.25 percent and 0.5 percent, and Alamast 0.1 percent. This synergistic arrangement will enable Santen to move forward with a renewed emphasis on the discovery and development of exciting new products that will make a significant difference in eye care.
Santen's newest product Iquix 1.5 percent, gained Food and Drug Administration approval in March 2004. Santen is also actively pursuing technological alliances with a number of pharmaceutical companies and research institutes, and has investments in an intraocular lens company. Santen has brought to market three innovative ophthalmic products covering a broad range of conditions, from allergy and infection to dry eye and glaucoma. Santen will continue to manufacture all of these products and maintain responsibility for clinical and regulatory activities.
At Santen, their people are their greatest asset people who are passionate, dedicated, and committed to the vision of a world where everyone will see clearly. They currently employ individuals across a range of disciplines. Their recent focus on research and development may lead to opportunities in this area.
