Baxa Corporation Compliances To The European Waste Electrical And Electronic Equipment
Baxa is the 2005 recipient of two excellence in exporting awards – one from the Governor’s Office of the State of Colorado and the other from the Small Business Administration (SBA).
Englewood, CO (PRWEB) August 17, 2005 –- Baxa Corporation, a Denver-based manufacturer of equipment that automates fluid dispensing for hospital pharmacies, announces its compliance to the European Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment Directive, or WEEE. The WEEE Directive aims to reduce the quantity of waste resulting from used electrical and electronic equipment and increase its re-use, recovery and recycling.
Under the Directive, the responsibility for the collection, treatment and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment transfers from the buyer to the companies that manufacture, sell, distribute, recycle or treat these products and components in the European Union (EU). As an environmentally responsible manufacturer of equipment used for improving healthcare worldwide, Baxa is extending this responsibility not only to the EU but to our global customers.
Baxa Corporation now operates under full compliance with the WEEE Directive. Among the Directive’s requirements is the marking of any applicable equipment placed in the EU market with the WEEE symbol (a crossed-out, wheeled garbage bin); demonstration of the implementation of a take-back program; and meeting recycling targets. All applicable Baxa equipment is labeled with the “wheelie bin” symbol. The company’s take-back program is outlined in its Environmental Statement online.
