Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 30, 2005 -- The third issue of “The CBSA FOCUS,” the Colorado BioScience Association’s quarterly newsletter, is now published.
The announcement is made by Denise Brown, CBSA executive director, who says the Association’s current newsletter features articles on both Replidyne and iBalance Medical – Colorado biotech companies that have both recently announced major funding achievements. Replidyne closed one of Colorado’s largest 2005 private financing deals in September for more than $62 million in newly secured funding. iBalance Medical recently closed on an initial $4.8 million of an $8.24 million commitment in first-round venture financing.
In addition, the Fall FOCUS previews BioWest 2005 and recaps the successful Bioscience Forum attended by close to 300 in August. Other topics include coming events, executive report, regulatory update on navigating the pre-market submission process, and news briefs. Here’s a sampling of the feature articles and links to the full articles and PDF of the newsletter:
“Replidyne Makes Big Impression: Raising Money and Eyebrows” -- After closing one of Colorado's largest 2005 private financing deals in September -- more than $62 million in newly secured funding -- Replidyne is quickly becoming a major player in the state's bioscience community. The Louisville biopharmaceutical company has raised over $121 million and lots of eyebrows since it was founded in 2002.
“iBalance Medical: Aligning Itself For Success” -- Founded in 2004 by a Massachusetts transplant, Boulder start-up iBalance Medical recently closed on an initial $4.8 million of an $8.24 million commitment in first-round venture financing. The company is now ready to move into high gear on its new surgical product and procedure for knee reconstruction that focuses uniquely on treating malalignment of the joint, delaying or eliminating the need for total knee replacement surgery for many patients.
