Baxa Corporation Named 2005 Company of the Year by the CBSA
CBSA awarded Baxa Corporation its Company of the Year designation during BioWest 2005 in Denver, acknowledging operational excellence and commitment to giving back to the community as key to the recognition. Chairman and CEO Greg Baldwin accepted the award for Baxa at the Colorado Convention Center last evening.
Englewood, Colorado (PRWEB) November 9, 2005 -- Baxa Corporation was recognized as the 2005 Company of the Year by the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) at their annual dinner last evening at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. The awards dinner is part of the two-day BioWest conference, the Rocky Mountain region’s premier medical device and biotechnology meeting. The annual competition promotes the accomplishments of Colorado’s bioscience companies. In addition to Company of the Year, CBSA presented the Rising Star Company of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement and Chairman’s Awards.
In presenting the Company of the Year, Neil Westergaard, editor of the Denver Business Journal, stated, “In a state with hundreds of successful bioscience companies and in a year of extraordinary accomplishments by many of them, it is a true honor to be distinguished as the single recipient of this award.” Chairman and CEO Greg Baldwin accepted the award for Baxa, acknowledging the importance of the biotech and medical device industries to Colorado’s economic development and thanking CBSA for its recognition of the company’s contributions.
Baxa Corporation is a long-standing member of CBSA. Its founder Brian Baldwin was a founding member of the Colorado Medical Device Association, which later merged with the Colorado Biotechnology Association to become CBSA. The company’s nomination listed performance and contribution as the key reasons for consideration as Company of the Year. Indeed, over the course of its 30 years of business, Baxa Corporation has grown more than 20 % annually. As a participating member of CBSA, Baxa Corporation’s activities bring media attention and recognition to the organization.
With nearly 300 Colorado employees, Baxa continues to grow both its revenues and employee base each year. Apart from its contribution in employment and tax revenues, the company has a focus on community service that is experienced throughout the metro area and nationally.
From its founding, Baxa Corporation has set aside money and resources for giving back to the community, supporting charitable and professional organizations as diverse as The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the United Way, the Intravenous Nurses Society, The Children’s Hospital of Denver, the Oley Foundation and Family Homestead, among others. That community support is underscored by giving each Baxa employee a paid day per year to volunteer at the charity of their choice.
Colorado is carrying out an aggressive plan to grow the state’s bioscience industry into one of the country’s premier bioscience clusters. CBSA activities are designed to help Colorado bioscience companies grow and prosper. Through regular breakfast meetings, the CBSA seminar series, and participation in BioWest, member companies have the opportunity to network and learn about key trends and developments in the biosciences arena. In addition, the Association works closely with the state and local policy makers to represent industry interests.
BioWest 2005 is a presentation of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade. The only conference dedicated to the Bioscience Industry in this region, it brings together representatives of medical device and biotech companies for education, networking and development opportunities.
